Assignment #1

To Do:

In your STARS workbook please read the first few pages on classroom set up and room arrangement. Next please complete the two surveys; one on indoor space and the other on your playground area. As you complete these forms please consider where you could improve your facility.

 

Next, read over the safety tips and the importance of play. For assignment #1 please write a short summary about how your facility is set up now and some ideas on how you would like to go about making improvements.

Please complete your short write up on your computer and save it  as assignment #1.

Be sure to put your class title, your STARS ID number, & your full name on the assignment.

For assignment #2 read the pages on learning centers/interest areas. You will also need to go to the "Study Links" page and spend some time going to the websites listed for this class.
For your written assignment you will need to list what you feel are the ten most important areas/centers. For each one state examples of what would be found there, and what could learned from this area.
Also state for each of these 10 areas what could be included to add an element of cultural diversity.

After reading about the use of interest areas or learning centers, you will need to come up with a workable rotation system.

 Please read the last section of your workbook on floor plans. Use a blank graph paper to draw your present facility. Next draw the changes you would plan to do. And lastly, draw out your room complete with at least 6 interest areas. Save these plans for future reference.

Now in a short written summary explain what interest areas you included and why. Explain the overall layout of your room, placement of areas, traffic flow, colors used, & dividers used.
