ASSIGNMENT #1

Read over the complete workbook. Think over your current facility, what types of interest centers are in use? Look at the block area, the housekeeping area, science area, library area, and any more that you currently have. Pick 2 topics or centers that you would like to improve and add to. For each of these 2 topics think of seasonal, cultural or creative additions that would fit into this area. Now write up a list of different versions for each center, such as;

ASSIGNMENT #2

Gather together four large cardboard file boxes, plastic storage crates, or baskets. Write the "topic" for each box, and place a list of all the items to be found inside the box. You may even include lesson ideas for each box. Next step is to fill each box. Use the suggestions in the workbook; ask for parent help, visit yard sales, or visit second hand stores.

Write a short summary detailing each prop box that you have created.

ASSIGNMENT #3

Now look over your Prop Boxes, and think of how they could be used. Write out one complete lesson plan for each box. Make it very clear so another teacher could easily use this prop box on a minutes notice. These are great to have for the days you are sick. Each box will lend itself to multiple lesson plans, but for now just do one per box.

 Please complete your four lesson plans (one per box) on your computer and save it as assignment #3.

ASSIGNMENT #4

Take some time to visit the websites listed for you at the "Study Links" page. Surf these internet sites for additional information and ideas.


Do the final preparation of your boxes. Place a copy of the lesson and the box content list inside an envelope or stapled to each box. Double check to make sure all items are there. 

 

Now for assignment four please evaluate your prop boxes. What do you feel turned out well, what could have been different? What new boxes would you like to add at a later time?
