Please read over all the developmental stages information in your workbook.
After you have read through the information, go to the “Study Links” page
and spend some time “surfing” these web links. There are some wonderful
sites listed for you to visit.
For assignment #1 please write up a short summary of each age group. Include all aspects; physical, emotional, social, and cognitive. List some of the capabilities typical to each age group. Please summarize the following ages:
5-7 year olds
8-10 year olds
11-13 year olds

Please read over the curriculum planning information. Understand the four
level process of planning. Now find your home or center's mission statement
and/or educational goals. Read these over so you have a basis to start from.
For assignment #2 please write up a sample curriculum plan for each of the
four levels:
Overall center's educational plan
Weekly plan
Daily plan
Lesson plan
When creating these plans think of an upcoming unit that you will be covering in the future. Be sure to keep these age appropriate and useful.
For Child Care Providers that are In-Home Care please "tailor" this assignment to your needs. Make sure that in completing this assignment, you come up with useable and workable ideas for your work site.

To Do:
Read over the information on themes, interest centers, and prop boxes. Go
to the websites listed for you at the “Study Links” page for further
information.
For assignment #3 please write up at least eight different interest
areas/centers. State what you would have available at each of these centers.
Also state how you would explain to the children what they are to do at this
center. Try to set up these eight centers using the same theme/unit of study
that you completed in assignment #2.
Now for part two, using these same eight centers please explain
what you would add or do in each center to enhance Cultural Diversity? How
might you explain this to the children?
Again, for In-Home Care Providers, make this assignment a useable
one. If space does not allow you to set up centers, develop prop-boxes or
grab bags that can be used when you are in need of an activity!

For assignment #4 you will develop and plan out 10 activity lessons.
Please use the format in your workbook (or your own). These activity lessons
can be on any unit or theme you would like. Just be sure to keep them
interesting, and age appropriate.
For part 2; please plan out three Daily Plans. Please use the format in your workbook. These three days need to be planned around three different themes/units.
It would also be very
useful for you to set up a file or a notebook to collect all these lessons
and activities. You will be much more likely to use them and to add new ones
if it is all in one place and organized.
